Biography

Stan Grot was appointed Shelby Township Clerk on Tuesday, February 7, 2012; he took his oath of office and immediately began serving the Shelby Township residents on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Grot was elected in November 2012.

Grot comes with a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector.

After studying Mechanical Engineering at Macomb County Community College and Wayne State University, he earned his journeyman card as a master mechanic. Grot later worked for General Motors Corporation.

For eight years, Grot owned and operated his own successful family restaurant in Hamtramck serving delicious meals and creating jobs for which he received many accolades and awards.

Previously Grot served as Sterling Heights City Councilman and Macomb County Commissioner. He also worked at the state level for seven years as Assistant Secretary of State and recently worked for Attorney General Bill Schuette in the Executive Office as Public Relations Representative for southeast Michigan.

Stan Grot is of Polish-German ancestry and is married to his wife Sylvia. Together they have four wonderful children attending Utica Community Schools. Grot belongs to many civic and political organizations such as Knights of Columbus, American-Polish Cultural Society, and American-Polish Century Club. He's a former Cub Scout Den Leader, Pack 79.

Grot is a past Chairman of the Macomb County Republican Party and was the 10th Congressional District Republican Chairman. He is a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Township and Society of Christ Our Lady of Czestochowa in Sterling Heights.
